The Michelin Group has plans to build a new plant in Mexico that will produce tires for passenger and light trucks.  This is in line with their efforts to produce tires close to the markets that sell their tires and increases the number of plants in North America to 21.

The plant should produce tires by the end of 2018 and is expected to manufacture 4-5 million tires per year.  The location of the new facility is close to around 18 car manufacturers and will allow for more cost effective and timely delivery to their customers, and will also help with their environmental goals of reducing the Group's carbon footprint
