How Often Should I Replace my Battery?

Your battery is important! Battery connections should be kept tight, clean, and free of corrosion. The most obvious sign of a bad battery is when the battery is dead. However, car batteries can offer other notifications when they're on on their way out.

One way to tell when to replace a battery is knowing it's age. If your battery is older than 3 or 4 years, you can probably start to expect some issues. Another way to determine the health of a battery is to look at the battery itself. If you see corrosion or stains, you might have a leak somewhere and should take care of this immediately. Also, take a look around the terminals on the battery. If there's build up, you should have it cleaned right away. Lastly, think about your driving habits. If you start to smell a rotting egg odor, this is the smell of sulfur, and means that your battery could be overheating. On the other hand, when a battery sits for a prolonged period of time without any activity, the battery life will drain.
